Blender for Print
I am really looking forward to 2.79 and 2.8 releases. I wanted to suggest few things 1) Please increase the max render output of 10,000 pixels because i want my 100 ft banners to be rendered ready for print out of blender itself. 2) Can the script editor have a scratch programming language like easy feel and users can switch off the friendly mode once they think they are ready. 3)can we have a render engine dedicated for print-work like books and comics.and if for example I am doing graphic novels and all my panels are a stand alone blender scene can we have an outliner or scene library where we can manage camera ,light, atmosphere so as the printed book is an unbelievable experience. this could be expanded with geometric calculations and simulations for people in industrial design and packaging industry.

This really should be three separate proposals.

I was unaware of that, i thought that would be spamming like any other forum. I'll post here for now and separate them if the community actually finds it useful.

Actually, I would prefer that you go ahead and separate them. It makes it much easier to address and reference each idea individually.

Split the renders into separate parts with camera shift - that way you don't overload your system trying to render all that data with what I assume woudl be a normal amount of ram. Addon exists for code autocomplete for python, maybe that is what you are asking. As for the dedicated render engine - EEVEE and Cycles will be able to handle just about anything you can think up if you do your homework and look dev. Addons for asset management and for pro-lighting already exist and can be used to better manage your scene elements, but I think they are paid addons. I would suggest separating these into individual proposals with pictures and diagrams to better show why we can't live without the solutions you seek, as altogether these would take a serious amount of work to build from scratch.

In fact didn't the Blender foundation actually do this exact splitting trick to make their banners? I think there was a python script to achieve it as well.

Yes, the camera shift keeps from losing the perspective, actually enabled me to render a seriously too large poster at 600 dpi for a 24" x 36" piece I wanted printed.

Maybe [**this add-on**](https://chameleonscales.wordpress.com/camera-cropper-splitter/) I made can be of help. I did it primarily for render farming but it can also be used so surpass the resolution limits of Blender (I didn't even know the resolution was limited). It will automatically set the shift, focal lentgh and resolution according to what options you select, to keep the same render result as if you didn't split it. I let you read the page for more info and if you'd like more options (like horizontal or vertical-only splitting or even a full control of vertical & horizontal tiles), tell me and maybe I can implement them.

This guy forked blender to make his own desktop publisher back in 2006, though I don't think it would work with latest and greatest builds https://www.blendernation.com/2006/05/26/desktop-publishing-with-dtpblender/
